It’s time for a look back over the past week, and to see what’s coming up. This feature is based on the original Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge.
Last Week on the Bookcase
It’s been very quiet around here lately. Sorry about that! I’ve been very busy at work and haven’t done a lot of reading either. Add to that the fact that my little boy dropped my Kindle and broke it earlier this week, so I’ve had a rather rough week, book-wise.
This is a quick and rather half-arsed update, but I’m hoping to make a bit of a comeback soon, so please bear with me!
Reviews (since the last CR):
- World of Warcraft: Pearl of Pandaria, Micky Neilson and Sam Galloway – a graphic novel
- A Corner of White, Jaclyn Moriarty
- Seeds of Discovery, Breeanna Putroff
- Roots of Insight, Breeanna Putroff
- Froi of the Exiles, Melina Marchetta
Currently Reading
Dodger, Terry Pratchett
In an alternative London, ruled by the young Queen Victoria, an enterprising lad can find adventure and opportunity if he is very smart, and very, very lucky. Dodger has the brains, the luck and the cheek to scrape by on his own.
You might be forgiven for thinking this was a Discworld novel but in fact, it isn’t one. Because it feels similar to a City Watch book but without the characters we know and love, I haven’t been enjoying it quite as much as it probably deserves. Hopefully the ending blows me away so I’ll have nice things to say about it.
Have a lovely week everyone!
The book sounds great, can’t wait to hear. 🙂

I picked that up with a gift card as a birthday present for myself. I didn’t realise it wasn’t a discworld novel until I started reading it and went … Wait a minute London??? Although it does give rise to the basis of Anhk-Morpork.
Been reading it slower than other pratchett books but part of that is I have a hardback version and it’s do much less convenient!
Yeah.. I think its similarities to a discworld book put me off slightly. On its own it’s quite a good read, but I keep getting disappointed when he runs into the peelers and none of them are Nobby Nobbs, y’know?
